Excursion to PetraA one-day journey to Jordan — a breathtaking adventure that begins at your hotel gates and ends with unforgettable memories. It is a path through the desert, across the Red Sea, and deep into history — to one of the world’s wonders, Petra, the ancient city carved into rock.
Journey to JordanEarly in the morning, a transfer picks you up at your hotel, and in approximately
3 hours you travel by bus to the port. There, document checks take place, followed by a
1-hour boat ride across the Red Sea to Aqaba — Jordan’s red-desert coastal city.
From the port, a short walk (
5–7 minutes) leads to the bus that continues into the mountains. After about
1.5 hours, there is a stop at a viewpoint overlooking an impressive canyon. There is also a souvenir shop here, and if you climb the stairs to the rooftop (free of charge), you’ll enjoy an even wider panorama — a perfect spot for photos.
Arrival in PetraAfter approximately
2 hours by bus, you arrive at Petra. At the top, there is a small museum (free entry) that can be visited if time allows. Then follows a guided walk — the true Petra experience begins.
At the entrance, you’ll find a small square with shops, restrooms, and cafés where you can buy drinks or ice cream. From here starts a
4-kilometer walk through narrow canyon passages, leading to the legendary Treasury, known as
Al-Khazneh.
The guide shares stories about history, but the most magical moment comes when the narrow canyon suddenly opens and the rock-carved façade appears before your eyes, as if from a fairytale. It cannot truly be described — it must be seen.
Tour End and Free TimeNear the Petra Theater, the guided part ends and you are given
about 1 hour of free time. Everyone can choose their own pace — enjoy a relaxed walk or return earlier. The way back goes slightly uphill, but it is not very steep.
If you feel tired, you can use a
golf cart (around €22) or
horse transport from halfway. Near Petra there are souvenir shops and drink stalls (cards accepted). There is also the option to take photos with a camel (around €15), and local attendants are happy to help capture beautiful moments on your phone.
Lunch with a ViewAt around
4:15 PM, the group heads to
Petra Magic Restaurant, where a hot lunch (similar to dinner) is served. The meal is included; drinks are paid separately (around €2 for water or cola). From the restaurant balcony, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape.
Return JourneyAfter the meal, the return journey begins:
- about 1.5 hours to a short stop (20 minutes, shop and restrooms),
- then another 2 hours to the port, where security and passport control take place,
- a 1-hour boat ride back to Sharm,
- and finally about 3 hours by bus back to the hotels.
At around
1:20 AM, you return to Sharm El Sheikh — tired, but filled with impressions that will stay in your heart forever.
