Since few people will have the patience to read my whole story today, I’ll start with the main thing – if you go to Egypt, get in touch with the Latvian girl Baiba Lība, who is already like a local there! When she talks about Egypt, she doesn’t say they have this… they do that… – she says with us… we…!!! ☺️ And she will organize the very best excursions so you can see the REAL EGYPT!! Read on if you want to know more! 😊
At 7:30 (give or take Egyptian minutes) we arranged to meet at the hotel gate for a tour to Dahab and the canyon. At 7:25 the bus was already there – we were the first passengers. We hopped on, then drove around picking up other guests from hotels. Since we booked this trip, as well as our Cairo excursion, through the amazing Baiba, I was really looking forward to her joining us as our guide. We met up, and right away it was clear the day was going to be fantastic!
First stop – picking up snorkeling gear. Just needed to say my foot size for the fins, and the staff matched everything else with a quick glance. We loaded up the bus and headed off. Our first activity: a camel ride by the sea. These camels were smaller, not as decorated as the ones by the pyramids. In our group there was also a photographer – a cheerful guy, directing us with well-practiced poses and funny improvisations.
Next was a short ride with quad bikes – finally, I got behind the wheel too! 😀 Since our bus had two guides – Baiba with us, and another local guide with the rest of the group – we went snorkeling separately. The local guide’s group snorkeled near the camels, but Baiba took us to a much prettier spot a little further away – the Blue Hole in Dahab. A delicious fruit cocktail first, then into wetsuits. I had bought a full-face snorkeling mask, Zintis had the standard mask and snorkel. Mine looked quite funny, but it was SO comfortable! Easy to breathe, no water getting in – totally worth it!
We were given an instructor – a young guy. I hadn’t felt that clumsy in fins in ages 😆 but we managed to get into the water. The instructor immediately took our phone in its waterproof case and filmed the entire time. We would never have gotten such videos ourselves! He dived deep, filming the corals, fish, and us from below. He was from Palestine and didn’t speak English, but hand signals worked perfectly. The impressions were unreal – so beautiful! Colorful fish, corals, and divers swimming beneath us.
After snorkeling, we had lunch at low tables, sitting on cushions on the ground – only a waterpipe in the middle was missing 😊. The instructor later asked for my Instagram so he could send us the videos. Now I even have a new IG friend from Egypt :))
The tour continued to an oil and perfume factory. We’d been to one before, but after a salty Red Sea swim, it felt great to moisturize our dry skin with oils. Finally, the highlight – the canyon visit. We switched from the bus to Bedouin jeeps and set off through the desert. The ride was thrilling – fast and bumpy, just my style 🤪! You had to hold onto the seat, but the energy, with loud Egyptian music in the background, was perfect.
The canyon itself was breathtaking! The photographer leapt around the rocks like a cat, making sure to capture us in the most beautiful spots. Baiba and I often walked ahead of the group, enjoying the silence – a special treat. At one canyon crossroads, Bedouin children were selling jewelry. One little voice suddenly squealed with joy: “Baiba!! Baiba!!” She ran to hug Baiba and called the others. Soon Baiba was surrounded by a whole group of kids. She pulled sweets from her bag, gave each one, spoke with them, knew all their names. I stood there with a big smile, watching how much those children had been waiting for her. And in that moment, they were just children – joyful, happy, and playful – for candy, for Baiba, for the little joy she brought them.
At the end of the canyon, we stopped at a Bedouin tea house with carpets and cushions, enjoying delicious tea before heading back through the desert in the jeeps. Smiles all around, the sun setting behind the mountains – a perfect end to another amazing day.
Those who only stay at their All Inclusive hotel in Egypt can’t really say they’ve been to Egypt. The real Egypt is out there – Cairo, Dahab, the canyon, the Bedouins!
On the way back, I kept thinking about the canyon children, and how lucky we truly are. How fortunate our children are. I thought I already knew how to appreciate what I have, but after this… my bed felt softer, my blanket warmer, my bread tastier!

I agree with every word written here. In November we went on the same excursion and have only good reviews about Baiba, the atmosphere, and the excursion itself. Our travel agency (Coral Travel) representative tried to dissuade us from this trip, but good thing we didn’t listen — this was the best excursion of our holiday! ☺️ The excursions offered by Coral Travel, however, were below any criticism, but that is another story!

Highly recommended 💯 We truly enjoyed Baiba’s excursions 💯 🥰 A city tour with Baiba Lība… in fact, two different excursions in the city – which I definitely recommend as well, to discover the city from another perspective and to hear a completely different story. Not one rehearsed for tourists, but one that comes from the heart, from true feelings, from a Latvian who lives there and is part of it all. We spent a lot of time with Baiba, and it was wonderful.
I strongly recommend – if you go there on holiday, don’t miss out on Baiba’s excursions. Such a warm, open, talkative guide – and a friend – we simply enjoyed every moment 🥰🥳
And one more tip: bring along some school supplies or little things for children. On her excursions to Dahab Canyon, Baiba always kindly shares and gifts the local Bedouin kids. It feels so sweet and heartfelt – and it comes so naturally to her 🥰🥰🥰

With all the postponed flights and the long journey — we finally arrived in EGYPT! Our HOLIDAY began! We enjoyed it as if we were young again… MOUNT SINAI, which started at 21:00 and our adventure ended the next day at 14:00! Never in our lives had we gone on such a hike — 14 km long and 8 hours of climbing. Not to mention being on the road altogether for 17 hours. 13 buses went on this adventure with more than 200 people, all climbing the mountain on their own to reach 2,285 m above sea level.
Our emotions were overwhelming — such a hard road, with moments that brought tears to our eyes, realizing what we had accomplished! And the views… impossible to capture in photos. How important it was to have my husband by my side, who knows me so well through the years. Together we managed both the hardest emotional and physical moments. Still descending I told him: “CAN YOU BELIEVE WE DID THIS? I CAN’T!”
What we experienced… I wish everyone could see this beauty of the world! I’m so happy that with my husband we lived through so much in just one week. We spent 4 days on excursions and saw so much! How I adore TRAVELING! ❤️ As my husband says — it felt like a HONEYMOON! 😍 It is so BEAUTIFUL here! We were so LUCKY to have Lauma Ozola with us — she was like a SECOND MOTHER for a week, keeping our little daughter safe in the most loving hands! ❤️

Before the trip, I was researching different Facebook pages with detailed information about excursions in Egypt, and that’s where I found the amazing Baiba Lība, who has been living in Sharm El Sheikh for more than a year. I decided to contact her because what caught my attention was that she is from our side of the world. She planned our excursions so perfectly and personally joined us on every trip. She told us so much, gave us encouragement in everything I was afraid of.

In two words and one picture it’s impossible to capture everything we saw, experienced, and enjoyed in Egypt during the week, so here is a proper gallery of memories! The best part was getting to know Baiba Lība, thanks to whom we could all enjoy together the quad bike ride, the camel trek, and simply spend unforgettable time here. Yes, Teodors literally stuck to Baiba like a little burr, which probably says it all about her as a person. Thank you! 🙌

We were in Sharm El Sheikh from 29.03.–7.03. Since it was my first trip that far away, and my brother’s very first flight and you could say his first big trip ever — everything felt unknown, a little scary, and literally unimaginable how and what would happen next… That’s why already while still in Latvia I found Baiba Lība, so that in Egypt we would at least have someone nearby who knows our language and the culture of the country 🫣 because, after all, hearing excursions in your own language is so much nicer 🥹.
Even before going to Egypt, every single one of our questions was answered, we were given tips both on what to take with us and on living there… Baiba also helped us choose the excursions best suited to us and most interesting.
Then came the day we met — from the very first minutes it was clear she was our person, all conversations and the sense of humor were on the same wavelength… managing already at 9 in the morning to tease or annoy those around us with our “buzzing” 😅😅. Already in the first hour Baiba encouraged me to do things I was afraid of just by saying: “If you don’t do it you’ll regret it all your life 😀 better do it” 😅.
At the end of the day after the excursion we went together to a café that as tourists we simply had to experience — and you know, it was one of the most beautiful and lovely experiences here 🥹💓. The next excursions were also AMAZING, because how could it be otherwise with such a firecracker as Baiba 🫣💓. We laughed so much and felt so free with Baiba — it truly felt like she was a long-time very good friend, a ray of sunshine you’ve come to visit ❤️.
During our time together a few mishaps happened, but even those didn’t create any obstacles — we all took them with our jokes… Each day and minute spent together was better than the previous one 🫠.
In short — if anyone has doubts about whether to enhance your trip with Baiba’s presence, without a doubt 💯 I recommend it! But you, Baibiņ, brace yourself for when we return with an even bigger group and then the whole of Sharm El Sheikh will have something to marvel at 🌞💓 Miss you 💓🌞

16.04.24 – The day before heading home from this wonderful place, Sharm El Sheikh. This time our day started at 3 in the morning, trotting towards the sunrise, and then in the evening chasing the sunset with quad bikes and buggies. As the sun went down, we enjoyed a local show with snakes, crocodiles, camels, and a little monkey, having dinner while watching the performance, and then racing through the desert in complete darkness ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The biggest gratitude goes to Baiba Lība for the amazing adventures, impressions, lessons of history and culture, the fun, and the warm welcome ❤️. Seven days with Baiba make you fall in love with Egypt so much that you start wanting to stay and live here. The freedom in people here is indescribable, the lifestyle so easy-going, and the nature… the nature and the views are simply beyond words.
Without a doubt, this is not the last time in Sharm El Sheikh… A huge thank you, Baiba, for everything!!! We cherish every single day we spent together ❤️🐪☀️🏝️

WoW, that was one amazing day — quads, 4x4, canyon, “Blue Hole” snorkeling, camels 🐪 and more. This time the story is about a leisure-type trip to warm countries. The choice fell on Egypt because it fit into the planned budget and seemed very suitable for children if the focus is on relaxation. Meanwhile, travel agents recommended Turkey more for the autumn season. At first, I was quite worried about the chosen destination, but in the end everything turned out great. I wouldn’t go several years in a row, but only because we prefer being on the move and discovering new places.
Our girls, however, were thrilled with everything — especially the hotel pools and the fish in the Red Sea. Still, we were looking for ways to be more active. Unfortunately, in Egypt that is very limited. All excursions are only with a guide, and you can’t really go many places on your own. Excursions can be purchased either from locals or from the tour operator. We bought from both our tour operator and also from Baiba Lība, a Latvian living in Sharm El Sheikh.
And I recommend Baiba. You can safely write to her even before your trip — she will answer all your questions. Thanks again, Baiba!
